R&D Team Leader – Electronics in Auckland

Our customer is one of the largest manufacturers of frequency control products and timing solutions. Their products can be found at the heart of many applications, from 5G networks to satellites and from emergency beacons to autonomous vehicles.

We are looking for someone capable of leading 6 Electronic Engineers and Technicians in the product research and development team. The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership, manage, plan and co-ordinate activities in the electronics aspects of the product development to deliver innovative world class frequency control products.

While the role is Product R&D Department, it will also require close collaboration with the other core and supporting engineering department across the global Rakon sites.

Overall Duties Include:

• Manage the electronics aspects of the product design for the entire Rakon product range, from concept through to prototyping, design verification, and full product qualification testing.
• Participate in the process of defining product and process development requirements and directions based on understanding the current and pending market needs and state of the art technology.
• Follow the Rakon product development methodology based on APQP.
• Support and mentoring of electronic engineers.
• Carry out efficient management of the team members. To provide expert support to team member to assist with successful completion of tasks and activities.
• Assist in the development of business management procedures relating to the team and department core activities.
• Carry out regular employee reviews of performance using the company’s process and ensure that department employees have the opportunity for further learning and development appropiate for the position.
