Our customer is an electronics design and consultancy company with worldwide footprint that work on a diverse range of projects for international clients mainly, who are global brands and pioneers in their fields. They help companies by creating game-changing (wireless) connected products and platforms that are deployed at scale to improve and enrich lives. Most of the team are based here in NZ – between the mighty Waikato and a small but growing footprint in Auckland.

Our customer is proudly Kiwi but have been global since day one, with mostly international customers in Europe and North America – and range from exciting start-ups to blue chips (including Qualcomm, Samsung, Trimble and Toyota).

We are in the mission to attract our first Lab Manager for our ever growing team. Their duties include, but not limited to:

  • Oversee the acquisition, installation, calibration and maintenance of RF equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards in the field.
  • Undertake training and be able to run SMT machines for small-run prototypes.
  • Manage and coordinate ongoing projects needing to use the laboratory.
  • Assisting in testing the engineering staff.
  • Build relationships with other research labs, academic institutions, or industry partners to bridge gaps in capability for testing.
  • Address technical issues that arise during experiments or testing.
  • Manage and track laboratory supplies, and consumables.
  • Order and replenish supplies as needed to support ongoing experiments.
  • Make recommendations related to equipment purchases, maintenance costs and project expenses so that engineering staff have access to the right test equipment when needed.

Skills and experience

In order to be successful in this role, we’ll expect you to have:

  • Degree in electronics engineering technology or related
  • Experience in a compliance lab/production test environment would be beneficial.
  • Demonstrated understanding of advanced level schematic designs and design of test circuits.
  • Must demonstrate expert proficiency using lab equipment and tools including ability to efficiently create test setups and advanced level designs.
