Maintenance Fitter in Auckland

Our customer is a leading manufacturer and supplier of food packaging with strong focus on the use of paper and other solutions to achieve circular economy outcomes.

We are seeking a skilled Trade Qualified Fitter to join our plant in Mount Wellington, Auckland. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse range of equipment in a progressive and dynamic organization.

As the Trade Qualified Fitter, you will play a critical role in providing engineering and mechanical services to our plant, focusing on the repair and maintenance of production equipment. Troubleshooting experience, particularly with packaging and printing machinery, will be highly advantageous.

Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, you will bring the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Hold a Level 4 Trade certificate in Fitting and Turning or Mechanical Maintenance and Diagnostics, or possess a relevant trade qualification.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills with a sense of urgency towards production breakdowns.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in mechanical plant maintenance.
  • Proven ability to maintain plant and equipment through published PM plans.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude, including proficiency in lathe, milling, general machining, and welding/fabrication.
  • Familiarity with pneumatics, hydraulics, and the ability to read and interpret drawings will be beneficial.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to teamwork.
  • Ability to work autonomously, driven by self-motivation and a commitment to meeting targets and schedules.
  • Availability for on-call duties every 2 weeks and willingness to work overtime when required.
  • A strict adherence to health and safety protocols.
