Technical Sales Engineer in Sydney

Job description

Due to business expansion, our customer is looking to bring onboard the next Technical sales engineer with background in the electrical industry. We are looking for someone capable to nurture existing commercial relationships with international and national customers, as well as potential business partners.

Our customer is an electrical engineering multinational expert in providing power conversion solutions for industrial and commercial environments. With more than 35 years in business, their solutions include in-house AC and DC products, designed and manufactured from their ISO9001 accredited facility, and a wide range of industry-leading products from global supply partners.

They currently have branches in Auckland, Sydney, Singapore and Middle East, so the right candidate will have plenty of international exposure in the electrical industry when the time is right.

This technical sales engineer position will have wide degree of autonomy, as performance will be evaluated on target achievements rather than time spent at the office. The ideal candidate will report to the regional sales manager and will provide key support with the scoping, estimation, negotiation and project risks assessment.

Responsibilities and duties

 

  • Developing and executing sales plans across multiple electrical products segments.
  • Quoting incoming queries from national and international customers and negotiating required pricing.
  • Following up on sales leads generated by marketing activity.
  • Preparing and presenting offers to create product understanding and awareness.
  • Building relationships with key customers to enhance long-term business prospects.
  • Product presentation to electrical consultants and assisting with tender specifications.
  • Staying abreast of new technology, market developments and competitor offerings.

Skills and experience

Ideal attributes to have:

  • Experience in the electrical engineering field for commercial purposes.
  • Experience in bidding for tendering process.
  • Expertise/knowledge about the electrical industry (NZ/AUS focus)
  • Knowledge on AC/DC products and their applications in the different industries.
  • A genuine focus on improving customer satisfaction and engagement.
  • Results/Achievement orientation, teamwork and cooperation skills.
  • Time management, particularly the ability to prioritise.
  • Relationship-building ability, sales presentation and professional approach.
