Our customer is a pioneer in the solar industry developing revolutionary technology that turns sunlight into a reliable and efficient source of energy. Today, their main product which is a cutting-edge microinverter works with virtually every solar panel made, and when paired with their award-winning smart battery technology, it results in one of the best performing clean energy systems worldwide.
Currently, we are looking to attract a visionary person who will suit the position of Responsible Systems Engineer and be working alongside their ever-growing R&D team in Wigram, Christchurch. The team is made up of 80+ engineers and support staff that work closely with colleagues in other R&D facilities in California, Texas and Bangalore.
Overall duties:
– Be responsible for the successful delivery of large system developments.
– Reporting to Senior Stakeholders on progress and issues.
– Ensuring all component tech leads work together with a systems mindset.
– Ensuring system interfaces and architectures are delivered to specification by working closely with cross-functional leaders.
– Making key decisions regarding system architectures and designs.
– Leading triages and reviews to ensure issues and tasks have the right priority.
– Leading small teams as required
Lead Systems engineering functions including:
– Approval of interface specifications, systems-level control architectures and designs.
– Being involved with product design cycles.
– Lead hardware and software systems modelling and simulation.
– Generate reports and be able to present data, and to report bugs.
– Assists with other requirements.
– Mentor junior members of the team
Ideal attributes for the right candidate:
– ME/MSc or PhD in electrical engineering, computer engineer or related.
– Hands-on experience with electrical and electronics systems.
– Excellent communication skills
– Experience in technical leadership.
– Experience with Python or similar high-level coding.
It would be an advantage to have:
– Experience in Git, Jira and Confluence.
– Mechanical, hands-on experience.
– Understanding of new product development.
– Ability to develop test scripts.
– Controlling test equipment using GPIB, TCP/IP, USB, RS232 or related communication protocols.
– Ability to interact with databases for retrieving test records and writing test results.
